RESURRECTION OF THE FERNS — Poetry Chapbook from Bottlecap Press (2025)
Resurrection of the Ferns is a collection of short poems that use nature as a vehicle to contemplate various perspectives on capitalism, (dis)ability, and queerness within “Western” society. The physical body is an object that is constantly criticized and constrained within society—a society that forces us to move, act, and present ourselves in specific ways. This short collection of poems aims to reveal the lived impact of those constraints and, from there, to imagine a better way forward.
How can we move forward in a society so determined to keep us stagnant? Resurrection of the Ferns evokes the persistence and abundance of the simple fern to highlight the importance of resistance both as individuals and as communities. All we have is community. If we nurture it, embody it, then it can support us in ways beyond what we’ve ever imagined.
